Environmental policy
As a natural part of the ideas on which Gemidan was founded, our focus is on the external environment. Waste processing machinery consumes large amounts of energy, which in turn generates further environmental issues.
Gemidan A/S aims to make a name for ourselves as a trustworthy partner in the waste processing industry. We aim to run the business in a way that is as environmentally friendly as humanly possible.
For this reason we set up and implemented an environmental management system that complies with international standards (ISO 14001) to cover Gemidan´s activities in Hjallerup and the mobile equipment. Environmental certification was completed in spring of 2005. We had recertification in April 2008.
As a natural part of our company´s operations, Gemidan A/S aims to:
- comply with current environmental acts and other relevant government requirements
- to focus on activities that reduce environmental impact and improve environmental conditions to guarantee major benefits for the environment above and beyond legal requirements
- to promote a high level of awareness for environmental issues among our staff through qualification and motivation
- to avoid unnecessary consumption of resources
- to take environmental factors into consideration in all investment decisions
- to take an active and open position on our information policy and the dialog with our cooperation partners (customers, staff, suppliers, authorities, neighbours, other organizations….) by positively influencing the environment
- to publish and document activities that relate to the environment in the scope of our environmental management system
- to maintain and improve our environmental management system to ensure that it will comply with customer requirements, legal requirements, and our own environmental standards at all times
In 2006, the tangible results of this were the formulation of aims and activity schedules which we continue in 2007-2008. Above all we focus on:
- consumption of diesel and lubricants
- appropriate use of machines and workflows
- reducing emissions from machines and vehicles
- best-possible vocational training for our employees with respect to operating and maintaining our machines and vehicles
- best-possible vocational training for our employees with respect to performance of tasks in hand
